1994 Jaguar XJ6 4.0S

- Bought in 1998, Brooklands Green with doeskin leather and
beautiful! 80,500 miles now. During Summer 2000 we did a 10
day tour around
Britain covering 1,300 miles in all sorts of traffic and roads from
Motorways
to country tracks and taking part in the JDC Millennium Event at
Cosford
in Shropshire where there were about 800 Jaguars attending. The
fuel
consumption was 25.3 miles per imp. gal. - (21 miles per US
gal.).
We did a similar run in 2002 and again in 2006 and achieved the same
results with an overall
average speed of 60mph. Long runs are performed effortlessly and
quietly
without tiring the driver or passengers - revs are about 3,000 at 87
mph.
The 4 litre motor is never working hard and always has power in reserve
on our roads.
I am a member of the Jaguar Drivers' Club and find it a very worthwhile
institution, it is the oldest Jaguar club having been formed in
February
1956 and approved by Sir William Lyons of Jaguar Cars Ltd. with effect
from 1st. May of that year. The club was subsequently recognised
by the Royal Automobile Club so that it could organise competitive
events
under the RAC rules. There are now a dozen or so branches of the
club in countries around the world.
The monthly club magazine is excellent with interesting articles and
technical information.
Each year there are many JDC events held all over Britain and they
are growing in popularity and represent all models of Jaguars.
The
JDC stands are often the best at the various classic car shows around
the
country. The last event in Scotland in 2003 was the Scottish
National
Day (The Selkirk Veteran, Vintage and Classic Car Show) near Selkirk on
Sunday 15 September. It was again an excellent show with hundreds of
cars,
tractors, trucks, steam engines, motorbikes etc. and over 50 Jaguars
from
the JDC as well as many more from other clubs etc. This year (2008) we
will attend several really good shows with great displays of cars.
